Helping Busy People Get Things Done

This page covers the most popular question I get asked: “What’s the most unusual errand you’ve done?”

After 15+ years in this business… I’ve got some answers.

Enjoy!

LITTLE PINK CORVETTE

A few days before Christmas (on my birthday!) I bought a Giant Pink Barbie Car at Toys R Us, for a guy from Arizona… to give to his girlfriend’s little girl. Seems Arizona was “sold out”.  We met at a Shell Station east of Alpine for the hand-off.

THINGS LEFT BEHIND

Business traveler attended a conference in San Diego. Returned home and realized she’d left her work keys, cell phone and sunglasses in the rental car! I went to the airport rental car place, got the goods, and shipped them to her.

THANKSGIVING DINNER DELIVERY

A woman from New York asked me to pick up Thanksgiving Dinner favorites from Whole Foods and deliver to her elderly mother in Rancho Bernardo, who was too sick to visit. Mom was super happy to get the food, and I was able to give the daughter “a good report”.

SCHWANKY SET UP DOWNTOWN

A client bought a brand new condo specifically for entertaining. My job?  Outfit it with high quality party food, drinks, serve ware, etc. Great views!

TRYING TO GET TICKETS TO OPRAH

One day I spent an hour, on two phones, just trying to get tickets to OPRAH. A nice man was trying to surprise his wife for her birthday. Sadly, I never got through!

SPY BOOKS AND EQUIPMENT – a favorite!

I was contacted by a man about buying a bunch of books for him. We met at Starbucks, and he gave me the list and a BUNCH of cash.  He was exploring a new career – related to espionage. I bought the books, met him again for the hand-off, he gave me a LARGE tip, and that was that.

 CRAZY FOR CRAFT BEERS

“Craft Beer” is a big industry here – especially when there’s a new release.  I was hired (a few times) by someone up north to: wait a few hours in a brewery parking lot, get in line, and then buy the maximum allowable number of bottles when they opened. Then, I handed them off to one of his buddies for shipping!

GOURMET MEAL FOR DOG’S LAST DINNER

A woman in Ventura County, asked me to buy specific items at Whole Foods and deliver to her sister’s house… for the dog.  The family was having to say goodbye to their elderly lab the next day.  I’m a dog lover and I’ve “been there”.  What a beautiful way to show love and support from far away.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE COPY

A mom in Texas was panicked! They were going on a cruise and didn’t have their daughter’s birth certificate. I was able to go to the County office, get a copy, and overnight it to her just in time to board the ship.

SHARP MARY BIRCH HOSPITAL – special delivery

Another nice sister story!  One sister in Chicago…. One sister on extended bed rest awaiting the birth of her first child. Weekly, I delivered special treats like Starbucks, Subway sandwiches, Chinese soup, Yogurt, etc.

HOUSE SITTING… for a funeral ?

This situation had never occurred to me before.  I was hired by a prominent family to “house sit” … while they attended funeral services.  With me there, the home looked occupied, and I also received floral deliveries and helped the caterers set up for a luncheon.

GREEK YOGURT… STAT!

A man and his wife are frequent visitors to San Diego, and fell in love with a certain Greek Yogurt from a certain vendor at a downtown farmer’s market. On their next visit, as a surprise for the wife, the husband hired me to go to the outdoor market, find the vendor, buy several (with fruit!) and deliver to their hotel.
